Sandra Bullock currently serves as a university faculty member teaching undergraduate and graduate level literacy and assessment courses at Long Island University and as education consultant. She has served in a variety of urban school and district level positions. Her career began as a classroom teacher (Community School District 29, Queens, New York) and she later served as a reading teacher, Director of Reading/English Language Arts, and elementary school principal. In addition, Sandra Bullock was Coordinator of State Funded Programs, Director of Curriculum, and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction. Her professional responsibilities included developing curriculum and literacy programs, organizing and conducting professional development for teachers, principals, assistant principals, district administrators, special education supervisors, teacher leaders and staff developers. She has designed, implemented and monitored literacy programs at elementary and secondary levels that led to capacity building at school and district levels. Her company, Literacy Works, LLC, advocates ongoing professional growth for teachers and administrators. Sandra provides consulting service to schools and school districts in the New York metropolitan area. Her workshops at local and national conferences as well as professional development in the New York area have received favorable feedback.
