Ann Marie Corgill is the 2007 recipient of the NCTE Donald H. Graves Award for Excellencein the Teaching of Writing.She teaches first grade atRiverchase Elementary School, Hoover, Alabama. She is a National BoardCertified Teacher, a member of The Center for Teaching Quality, as well as the Teacher Leaders Network Forum. For the past fifteen years she hastaught and learned with first through fourth graders at the ManhattanNew School in New York City as well as schools in Birmingham, Alabama andBronxville, NY. Ann Marie is the author of Of PrimaryImportance: What's Essential in Teaching YoungWriters, published by Stenhouse in the fall of 2008. She co-authored articles for NCTE's publications, PrimaryVoices and School Talk.In addition, Ann Marie has been ateacher contributor for Time for Kids. Ann Mariepresents at both national and local conferences on writing instructionin the primary grades.
