Laura Nuss-Caneda is a former NYC English and Social Studies teacher. She has developed literacy based curriculum that includes a senior level independent reading and writing seminar. Working with the New York City Writing Project helped Laura develop successful strategies to engage students in reading and responding to non-fiction text. She served as a mentor and consultant in public high schools for six years. She has taught professional development workshops for teachers across disciplines who seek to strengthen student writing through the practice of thoughtful, probing responses to first drafts. Laura also works part-time as a consultant for Kaplan K-12, leading professional development sessions and coaching teachers.
