Laura kates
Laura Kates has eighteen years of experience as a curriculum consultant and staff developer in the New York metropolitan area. A former New York City teacher, she has worked with principals, teachers, and district leaders in a multitude of diverse settings on the development of primary grade curriculum and on the establishment of collaborative, collegial learning communities. Laura specializes in supporting teachers in the enactment of assessment-based instruction and in the implementation of interdisciplinary units of study that allow young children to explore their environments through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Laura holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College Columbia University and has presented on topics related to the design of professional development and teacher education at universities and conferences around the country.
