Mady Holtzman
Mady Holtzman has been an educator for more than 30 years. The greater part of that work has been in the NYC metropolitan area as a classroom teacher, adjunct professor of education at N.Y.U. and Touro College, a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader and a Literacy Consultant. In her capacity as a Literacy Consultant, Mady has supported the implementation of Balanced Literacy in both public and private schools. Her approach to the Professional Development process is multifaceted. While meeting with school administrators to learn about the culture of the school and its strengths and needs, a plan is jointly developed. That plan may include workshops, coaching, demonstration lessons, and conferencing with teachers, and professional reading. All the time, the aim of her work is to raise student achievement, strengthen teacher understanding of the reading and writing process and develop assessment driven instruction. Mady hopes to always encourage change through trust and collaboration.
