Martha RusH
Martha Rush is an internationally recognized high-school economics and social studies teacher and advocate for interactive teaching strategies. She is also Founder and CEO of NeverBore LLC (www.NeverBore.org), an education consulting and content company that provides teachers and school systems with research-based curriculum and workshops designed to make teaching more engaging and interactive. Her first book, Beat Boredom: Engaging Tuned-Out Teenagers (Stenhouse), will be released in November 2017.
With 20+ years of teaching experience, Martha has expertise in creating classroom environments that facilitate critical thinking skills as well as deep understanding of core concepts. Having led multiple student teams to championships and finalist positions at various Economics and Personal Finance competitions, Martha is an authority in methods that actualize students’ potential to achieve and reach beyond average. Her passion to move public education forward in the classroom and beyond inspires Martha’s work at NeverBore, where she has led curriculum writing and workshops in over 20 school districts across the United States and directed the creation of content for teachers focusing on student engagement and higher-level thinking skills.
Her published curricula include Teen Startup Trainers, a guide to implementing the Lean Startup approach to entrepreneurship with students, No Easy Answers, a case-study based personal finance curriculum, Teens & Sleep, an inquiry-based unit on sleep for psychology and health classes, and numerous lessons contributed to the Council on Economic Education and Econ EdLink.
She is the current Education Committee Chair within the Minnesota Council for Economic Education, and she holds a Masters in Education Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, a Masters in History from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
