Wendy Blum
Wendy Blum, M.A. New York University, Performance Studies; B.A. from Wesleyan University, Dance/College of Letters, is a teaching artist in aesthetic education with Lincoln Center Institute (since 1999) and with Orchestra of St. Luke’s (2003); facilitates professional development with the NYC-DOE for teachers and administrators; taught at the 92nd Street Y, with Headlong Dance Theatre and at Wesleyan University; was dance teacher/resident choreographer at Convent of the Sacred Heart/91st Street from 1992 1999; has created dances for Jacob’s Pillow Touring Ensemble and for public and private school students in five states. She also teaches yoga incorporating the Klein/Mahler technique.
Blum’s NYC-based performance group, Blum Dance Theatre, has been presented since 1998 at numerous venues throughout New York City, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, and in Canada. She has been an artist-in-residence at Movement Research, the Yard and Palenville Arts Colony. Ms Blum has received grants from the Jerome Foundation and Meet the Composer. She has performed in an Olympic Opening Ceremony, in NYC parks, swimming pools and store windows and in the work of a multitude of talented choreographers.
She served as curator for Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church, moderator for Movement Research, and written on dance for Lincoln Center Institute and the New York Times.
